Medical industry is highly developed in Turkey. Most of the successful students in Turkey choose Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry for university education. Education in medicine in Turkey is at the top rank in terms of students and quality of education due to high salaries and high ratio of recruitment. There are many world-famous doctors in Turkey who received their initial education in Turkey and continued their education as specialists in foreign countries and Turkey is deemed and recognized as a country where competent physicians are taught. Especially Hacettepe University and İstanbul University, high quality education in world standards is given in all faculties and institutes due to the importance given to the health sciences in Turkey. Education in health sciences are given in coordination with training and research hospitals where students could obtain valuable experience. Students, who receive education in those universities, start working before they are graduated and gain experience in those hospitals. For example, a student who studies medicine, completes courses in the first 4 years of university education and then completes internship with or without courses in a hospital and will be graduated as experienced practitioner for 2 years within 6 years of education in which they could find opportunity to develop their active skills. Students, who are graduated from faculty of medicine, shall choose their field of specialty and passes examination for specialty in medicine and have to complete their education for specialty in medicine such as urologists, neurologists, etc. All students and employees in medical industry in Turkey get respect and held in high esteem in Turkey.

To be accepted by these departments, completion of high school is the most common and fundamental condition and those students who shall be accepted by these departments must pass foreign language proficiency examinations approved by universities by taking the minimum grade points. Separately, each university could have its own application conditions and could assess all conditions by itself. For example, it is mostly required to have at least 60 points from Foreign Language Exam (YDS) for departments including courses in English language.

Medical sciences education in Turkey other than medical education is divided into two programs such as 2 years of associate degree education or 4-5 years of bachelor’s degree education programs. Many associate degree programs give an opportunity to continue to bachelor’s degree immediately after the graduation without losing any time. Students, who complete their bachelor’s degree education, could continue to master’s degree education which is a more academic level. Master’s degree education in Turkey is in two types as master’s degree education with thesis and master’s degree education without thesis. Master’s degree education programs without thesis are more industry-oriented than academic for whom are mostly working professionally. Students, who receive master’s degree education without thesis, are persons who are sought industrially but this is not appropriate for students who would like to continue to doctorate education and who would like to have an academic career. In master’s degree education without thesis, students shall be graduated by creating projects rather than thesis. Master’s Degree education with thesis lasts generally 2 years, 1 year for courses and 1 year for thesis preparation in Turkey. Master’s degree education without thesis generally lasts 2 years, such as 1 year for courses and 1 year for project. Those students, who shall complete their master ’s degree education, could go on in their academic career plans by being registered to doctorate programs.
